Government announces £25m extra to protect Jewish communities after Golders Green attack as calls mount to ban pro-Palestine marches

A further £25million will be invested to increase security for Jewish communities after the suspected terror attack in north London, the Government said today.

The funding following the horror in Golders Green will be aimed at boosting police patrols and protections around synagogues, schools and community centres.

Legislation creating powers to target people and organisations acting on behalf of state-sponsored groups will also be ‘fast-tracked’ in the coming weeks.

It comes as ministers are under pressure to ban pro-Palestine marches in the wake of the Golders Green attack amid claims they contribute to ‘a tone of anti-Semitism’.
