Hundreds of Brits are held on cruise ship in France after UK passenger dies and dozens show symptoms of norovirus

Hundreds of Brits are being held on a cruise ship in France after a passenger died and dozens more are showing symptoms of suspected norovirus.

French authorities on Wednesday confined more than 1,700 passengers and crew on the Ambition cruise ship docked in Bordeaux.

One British passenger died on May 10, while about 50 people have shown symptoms of norovirus, health officials said.

The 92-year-old passenger died of cardiac arrest, according to local media.

While norovirus is not currently linked to the passenger’s death, medical journals note it can cause heart failure in elderly patients.
