Sir Keir Starmer has refused to give any more money for defence despite John Healey’s replacement demanding extra cash for the military.
The Prime Minister is expected to give the same £13.5billion settlement which led to John Healey’s resignation last week to the new defence secretary Dan Jarvis.
Mr Jarvis has been told to find savings within the Ministry of Defence and he has since spent the weekend reviewing the long-delayed defence investment plan (DIP) with his officials.
