After 35 years as a top executive in TV, I recently found myself standing in the chilled aisle at Waitrose stacking yogurts.

Now, four days a week, I tie my green pinny around my waist to start my shift manning the checkout, processing the Deliveroo orders or restocking the shelves at my local store in Brighton.

I earn in a week what I used to earn in a day and it’s exhausting.
