England’s forgotten man Phil Foden takes his mind off the World Cup by heading to Wimbledon – where he runs into former Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden took his mind off his World Cup omission by joining former England manager Gareth Southgate in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Saturday.

Foden was overlooked by current Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel for this summer’s tournament after an indifferent season for his club. The 26-year-old struggled to nail down a spot in Pep Guardiola‘s side and scored only seven league goals last season.

Foden, who was wearing a cream suit, was joined by his partner Rebecca Cooke fresh from their recent family trip to Disneyland.

Southgate was also in attendance for the opening match of the day
