The mother of hero PC Andrew Harper said releasing two of his killers from prison early would deny her son ‘proper justice’.

Debbie Adlam said any plans to free thugs Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers just halfway through their 13-year jail terms ‘just feels like another letdown for Andrew’.

And she warned new Prime Minister Andy Burnham that releasing prisoners to ease chronic overcrowding in Britain’s jails would be ‘bottling up problems for the future’, with concerns about the prospect of criminals reoffending.

Mr Burnham is reviewing the early release scheme – part of the Sentencing Act, due to come into force on
