Foxtons boss urges Burnham to reform stamp duty as he warns London house sales could fall to record low in 2026

Foxtons is expecting property sales to fall to a record low this year, as the London estate agency grapples with higher interest rates and weak consumer confidence.

After a sharp drop in transactions in the first half of the year, chief executive Guy Gittins has urged the new Prime Minister to prioritise stamp duty reform.

He said 2026 could ‘prove one of the lowest years for London transaction volumes on record’.
