FIFA issued a blistering attack on the media in its response to furious backlash over the controversial plan to sell World Cup stakes to private investors.
According to the group’s late-night statement, ‘erroneous reporting’ about the proposal ‘disrupted [a] planned consultation process.’ The organization did not specify which reports about the plan were erroneous.
The backlash notwithstanding, FIFA still hopes to proceed to a vote on the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), which has already been condemned by dozens of international organizations within the sport.
