The number of foreign criminals on Britain’s streets who are subject to deportation has jumped by more than 2,000 in a year in the wake of Labour’s soft justice measures.
Home Office figures show 21,294 foreign national offenders were living free in the community in the year to June 2026, up from 18,993 a year earlier.
The increase was blamed on the impact of Labour’s Sentencing Act, which has seen thousands of criminals released early as part of efforts to combat prison overcrowding.
The number of foreign criminals awaiting deportation stood at 17,677 at the time of the General Election.
