A brave Olympic rower who stopped a motorboat skipper from ramming into other rowers has said he was afraid the man would target him in a ‘river rage’ incident on the Thames.
Jack Beaumont, who won silver in the men’s quadruple sculls in Tokyo five years ago, said he was ‘frightened’ the 67-year-old motorboat driver would ‘really ram into me’.
Courageous Mr Beaumont, 32, intervened early on Sunday morning after the ‘erratic’ and ‘volatile’ man, who has since been arrested, appeared to collide with another rower on a stretch of the river near Maidenhead.
