The mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case shouldn’t surprise. No decent person wants to believe that a mother would murder her own children.
She would have to be crazy, right? Right?
It’s too disturbing, for most, to think otherwise.
And that’s what the defense was clearly banking on — that their plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, a psychotic episode that lasted only 18 minutes, during which Lindsay strangled her three children to death before jumping out a window, would be considered the only reasonable explanation.
How else could someone be capable of such savagery?
