Planes at most major UK airports have been grounded by an air traffic control ‘technical failure’ which has seen almost 300 flights cancelled.
Thousands of holidaymakers, including at Heathrow and Gatwick, are facing hours of delays, with disruption expected to last until at least 9pm this evening.
More than 10 airports across the UK have reported disruption, with Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham the worst affected.
Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, Bristol, London Stansted and City Airports have also announced they are impacted.
