September is notorious for it. After a summer of holidays, day trips, and big social events, the average Briton has racked up a debt of £1,641 according to a survey by loan company Updraft.

And while 62 per cent of respondents say they spend more money than usual ‘to make the most’ of the season (and why not?), a shocking 48 per cent admit they’re still paying off debt from previous summers.
