Gang who sprayed tear gas as part of plot to steal passengers’ suitcases at Heathrow last Christmas sent to jail

Thugs who caused pre-Christmas chaos at Heathrow after spraying tear gas to help steal passengers’ luggage have been jailed.

The airport’s Terminal 3 was closed for hours following the incident of ‘serious and sustained’ violence, after members of the group sprayed the face of a woman who had her suitcase taken.

Tyrone Richards, 31, Anton Clarke-Butcher, 25, Omoneke Whyte, 31, and Denzel Eduardo, 29, admitted affray and were each jailed today.

Sentencing the quartet at Isleworth Crown Court, Judge Kwame Inyundo said: ‘Individuals were targeted by you as a group and the violence used in the incident was serious and sustained.’
