Andy Burnham has said he trusts Donald Trump, ahead of crunch talks with the US President.
The Prime Minister has previously described Mr Trump’s politics as ‘poisonous’ and said politicians engaging with him should be ‘ashamed’.
But, in a major shift, he said he now trusts the outspoken US President and views him as an ‘ally’.
Speaking to reporters en route to New York on Monday night, he said the so-called Special Relationship was ‘as strong as it’s ever been’, adding: ‘When you come into this job, you realise how deep this relationship is.’
Asked if he now trusts Mr Trump, the PM said:
