Counter-terror police arrest ‘car bomb plot’ suspects near RAF base that launched Iran strikes after member of public calls 999

Counter-terror officers were seen arresting five men after in dramatic pictures from a foiled attack at RAF Fairford, which was first reported to police by a local. 

The heroic resident is understood to have phoned the air base to no avail before she dialled 999 at 12.45am to report men ‘acting suspiciously’ around three white vans.

Footage showed the men being arrested and sitting on the road shirtless while handcuffed, indicating officers may also have suspected they were wearing suicide vests.

Viable incendiary devices and chemicals were found inside one of the vans, police said.
