JD Vance has insisted the US was just ‘trying to protect our guys’ by withdrawing its bombers from RAF Fairford.
The Pentagon confirmed yesterday that aircraft which were being stationed at the Gloucestershire base had been ‘redeployed to their home stations in the United States’.
And US vice president Vance, speaking as he left Washington DC for a trip to Alaska, said his colleague Pete Hegseth had exercised ‘an abundance of caution’ in removing the bombers.
