The reality of life after a prolapse: No one talks about them. But after doctors failed to stitch me up following a traumatic birth to my 9lb 8oz baby, I’m here to tell you there IS hope: ASHLEY JAMES

Imagine the glamour. I’d taken my partner Tommy to Paris to see Celine Dion in concert for his 37th birthday. We’d left our two small children at home and were looking forward to a romantic weekend.

Our hotel near the Champs-Elysees had given us the most amazing room, with a balcony view of the Eiffel Tower. We’d enjoyed an early dinner and were getting ready for a fabulous evening.

Only I couldn’t find my washbag. Realising I’d left it on the Eurostar, I told Tommy: ‘I can’t go to Celine without my Tena pads. Can you go to a pharmacy for me?’
