But now a seagull in Northumberland has been pictured turning his attention to a seal and wrestling a fish from its mouth.
In the Halloween heist – on October 31 – the gull dive-bombed the hungry seal as it came up for air after catching its fish.
The pair engaged in a tug-of-war over the fish before the bird wrestled it free and swallowed it in one gulp.
It is unknown whether the gull, which staged the attack in Warkworth Harbour, has a history of targeting seals.
