A firm handshake is set to be a thing of the past as a quarter of Gen Zs say social anxiety means they cannot greet strangers in the traditional way.

Once a sign of good manners shaking hands was a key part of making friends, but new research reveals it has been replaced by texting and sending emojis online.

A third of Gen Zs, born between 1997 and 2012, admit looking someone in the eye is also too nerving racking for them.
