Assisted dying backers will attempt to force through their controversial legislation after the Bill failed in the House of Lords yesterday.
Politicians who supported the proposed legislation accused peers of ‘filibustering’ and vowed to bring it back using obscure parliamentary powers.
The Upper House would be unable to block the legislation if an identical Bill is brought back before MPs and they vote it through again.
But there were concerns last night about whether it was appropriate to employ the rarely used piece of legislation.
Kim Leadbeater, the Labour MP who introduced the Bill in late 2024, vowed to bring the Bill back again.
