New ministers and Government whips are named after resignations over Starmer’s leadership – live updates 

The Government has announced a series of new appointments after multiple ministers resigned in a bid to force Sir Keir Starmer to stand down as Prime Minister. 

Miatta Fahnbulleh, Jess Phillips, Alex Davies-Jones and Zubir Ahmed all left the Government on Tuesday in protest at Labour‘s disastrous local election results. 

Nesil Caliskan will become a parliamentary under-secretary of state (PPS) in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Number 10 has said.
