Boy, 8, among three rushed to hospital after BMW ploughs into picnic table at motorway services

An eight-year-old boy and a man were run over by a BMW driver while having a picnic at a motorway service station.

The black luxury car – driven by a 76-year-old woman – careered into an outdoor table at the Cardiff Gate services on the M4 before smashing into a shop at 11.45am this morning.

The boy, the 39-year-old man and the driver all had to be rushed to hospital following the crash.

Police said that the man had serious, ‘potentially life-changing’ injuries. None of the injuries sustained by the three hurt are thought to be life threatening however.
