Traffic gridlock as council installs FOUR zebra crossings on 90-yard stretch of road: Fury as businesses lose trade and cars are stuck in long queues on town centre street

A council has installed four zebra crossings on a 90-yard stretch of road causing traffic chaos.

The traffic calming measures on Scotland Road in Nelson, Lancashire, were implemented to improve pedestrian safety.

But many frustrated motorists are speeding through them, it has been claimed.

A fifth zebra crossing has also been installed on an adjoining street just yards from a busy roundabout.

And now businesses have complained that the gridlocked road has hit trade.

Ikram Sharif, who co-owns Super Auto Saver, said: ‘The council just does not have a clue. Why do you need four crossings so close to each other?
