A disgraced Metropolitan Police detective would have ‘likely’ been arrested before his wife’s unexplained death if a police computer software error had not occurred, a coroner has said.
Former Detective Inspector Warren Arter, 54, was arrested in the Caribbean after his wife, Rebekah Arter, 47, was found dead on June 28, 2024 in a Barbados hotel room covered in blood on their holiday together.
He was brought back to the UK on ‘non-homicide charges’, but was later found dead in his cell at HMP Wandsworth by prison officers on July 12, 2024.
