Holidaymakers face disruption in France as major landmarks are forced to close early and the Loire River dries up amid ongoing heatwave

France is battling another intense heatwave, with temperatures forecast to reach 41C and major Paris landmarks forced to close early.

Red weather alerts for ‘extreme high-temperature warning’ have been issued by local weather official Meteo News for 37 different areas across the country, impacting 22 million people.

Over the weekend, temperatures were forecast to reach up to 41C, with the French capital expected to see 34C heat today. 

Some major tourist attractions closed on Saturday and Sunday as the capital grappled with the hot weather. 

The Eiffel Tower announced it would close early on both days over the weekend, Euronews reports.
