Suspected Ebola case is being monitored at a London hospital after ‘exposure in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’

A suspected Ebola case is being monitored at a London hospital after a humanitarian worker was ‘exposed’ to the disease in DR Congo, the UK Health Security Agency said.

The British resident had been working in the African nation as part of a humanitarian organisation when he is feared to have been exposed.

He was evacuated on a chartered flight as a precautionary measure, the agency said, and is now being ‘monitored and assessed’ at a hospital by specialists in the capital.

The worker is not currently displaying symptoms and ‘remains well’.

There has not been a single case of Ebola recorded in Britain since 2015
