A man has died after getting into difficulty in the sea near Frinton.
The incident occurred at around 2pm on Thursday off The Esplanade, a long road that stretches across the seafront in the Essex town, police have said.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man died and his body was brought to shore.
The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Emergency services remain at the scene. An air ambulance was spotted on the beach this afternoon.
Essex Police have asked the public to avoid the area where possible.
