The word ‘narcissist’ has become increasingly common in everyday conversation, often used to describe someone who’s arrogant, controlling or completely wrapped up in their own self-importance.

But true narcissistic behaviour goes far beyond a big ego or heaps of confidence.

It can leave a lasting emotional impact on the people closest to them, damaging relationships and slowly chipping away at a person’s self-esteem.
