Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos closes in on deal to buy minority stake in Liverpool as consortium’s £1.35billion investment nears approval

Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos is closing in on a deal to buy a minority stake in Liverpool.

Bezos is part of a billionaire boys’ club featuring the owner of Facebook and the son-in-law of an Indian steel magnate, with the consortium set to purchase a share of the Premier League giants that equates to around 30 per cent.

Daily Mail Sport reported three weeks ago that a group led by Amit Bhatia, the former co-owner of Championship side Queens Park Rangers, were serious and confident of buying that percentage of the club for roughly £1.35billion from Liverpool’s American owners Fenway
