Andy Burnham has bowed to huge public pressure to keep the killers of PC Andrew Harper behind bars.

The Prime Minister said he is ‘increasingly confident’ that further changes could be made to Labour‘s early release scheme to keep Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers in prison.

Under existing plans, the pair are set to be freed in January – just half way through their 13-year sentences – as part of Government efforts to tackle overcrowding in jails.
