A mother who killed her baby daughter with heat from a hairdryer after a night out partying has been jailed for just six years.
Courtney Gartshore, 28, used the appliance to subject three-month-old Dahlia-Rose Gartshore to ‘significant and sustained heat’ at an address in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire in September 2023.
Dahlia-Rose suffered burns to approximately 18 per cent of her body surface – particularly to her head, neck, upper body and one of her arms.
The injuries were so severe that a paramedic thought her body was decomposing and experts said they had never encountered a similar case.
