Council staff attempted to block travellers from entering a field with a ‘ring of steel’ and kicked up dust from the dry ground to try and force them out.

Contractors in Gosport, Hampshire, have tried to intimidate travellers away from setting up camp on a field near a school.

Photographs showed a line of five council trucks parked at the edge of the Grange Lane Fields in Gosport in an attempt to prevent more caravans from turning off the road and setting up camp.
