Two-time world champion boxer, 38, shot dead in deadly ambush outside his home with killers still at large

Zolani Tete, a two-time world champion boxer, has been shot dead outside his home in South Africa.

The 38-year-old was killed in an apparent ambush in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, at around 6:30pm on Friday night, officials confirmed. 

Police said he had been arriving at his residence when he was approached by two unknown armed suspects wearing balaclavas while he was waiting for the gate to open.

The suspects, who are still at large, emerged from a vehicle and opened fire on Tete and a 27-year-old female passenger, who remains in hospital.
