Fears grow for Europe’s oldest serving monarch: Norway’s King Harald V, 89, in ‘very serious’ condition as Crown Prince Haakon and Queen Sonja cancel all their engagements

Fears are growing for Norway’s King Harald after Crown Prince Haakon and Queen Sonja cancelled all their scheduled engagements, and the palace reported his condition is ‘very serious’ today. 

The update comes days after the Royal Court said Europe’s oldest-serving monarch, 89, was stable and had ‘responded to treatment’ for a ‘bacterial infection in his blood’. 

The latest statement issued this morning said: ‘His Majesty the King’s state of health is very serious.’ 

No further details have been provided at this stage.
