A Jewish man who repeatedly kicked a Catholic nun has been acquitted based on his insanity defence – but has been ordered to be committed to a psychiatric hospital for up to six years.
The violent assault in April on a 48-year-old nun walking in her habit in Jerusalem‘s Old City sent shock waves across Israel and its many Christian communities.
The attacker, who has not been named, shoved the elderly woman causing her to collapse to the floor hard, and began to walk away when he doubled back and repeatedly kicked the nun.
