MORE dangerous criminals to be released early: Stalkers and abusers on ‘indefinite’ sentences up for release, as Labour minister tells Mail that Burnham ‘is not focused on risk’

Andy Burnham was last night accused of endangering the public over his latest change to the prison early-release scheme.

The Prime Minister is facing a new backlash after changing the policy to keep PC Andrew Harper’s killers behind bars, but at the same time opening the cell door to hundreds of dangerous offenders.

In yet another U-turn on the controversial scheme, Mr Burnham said anyone convicted of unlawful killing will be excluded.

It means Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole, who were convicted of the officer’s manslaughter in 2020, will no longer be eligible for early release next year, to the relief of PC
