Bargain Britain: As sales of UK firms top £80bn for the year, you can snag yourself a profit

UK takeover mania returned with a vengeance this week, with £3billion of bids unveiled on Tuesday. 

Such is overseas predators’ insatiable appetite for FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 businesses that they have swallowed up $110billion (£81billion) worth of firms over the past year.

One analyst compared the behaviour of private equity and other bidders to customers at an ‘all-you-can-eat buffet’, with previously overlooked British businesses suddenly becoming tasty dishes.
