Thousands of holidaymakers at Heathrow and Gatwick are facing delays and cancellations to their flights after a technical issue hit air traffic control.
Flights have been grounded at London’s two busiest airports with passengers left stranded, with airports across the UK also affected.
National Air Traffic Services (NATS) said the issue is with its “flight processing system” and it is working to rectify the problem.
It said: “Flights are still departing and airspace is open, but recovery will take some time. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.”
Scores of flights have been delayed and cancelled from Heathrow and Gatwick.
