David Coulthard believes Max Verstappen needs challenges such as Wednesday’s ‘Max vs 100’ karting race to keep his love of motorsport alive as the four-time Formula 1 world champion grows increasingly frustrated with the modern F1 car.
Verstappen will start at the back of a 101-kart field at Silverstone later today and attempt to overtake 100 rivals in a unique event broadcast live on Disney+.
And Coulthard, who raced against Verstappen’s father Jos in Formula 1, believes the spectacle is about more than entertainment: it gives a driver whose passion for racing extends far beyond F1 an opportunity to simply race.
‘Unquestionably,’ Coulthard
