A man has died following an ‘explosion’ on a residential street in Rotherham.
Emergency services, including three fire engines, rushed to Clifton Mount at about 1.20pm today after locals reported a ‘massive bang’.
A man was ‘sadly found deceased’ and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion.
Gas distributor Cadent Gas has reportedly said the explosion was ‘not an issue related to our gas network’.
Police confirmed that there initially appears to be no further risk to the wider community, with the area temporarily cordoned off while enquiries took place.
