A police officer who fired a 50,000-volt Taser at a 92-year-old, wheelchair-bound dementia sufferer later joked about the incident online using a lightning emoji, a misconduct hearing was told.
PC Rachel Comotto, 37, fired the weapon at Donald Burgess, an amputee, after he threatened to stab staff in his care home with a dinner knife.
Her and PC Stephen Smith, 52, attended the scene and the hearing heard Smith used incapacitating Pava spray and a baton on Mr Burgess while Comotto deployed her Taser after Mr Burgess refused to drop the cutlery.
