When Kristin Logan was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, she was told her chances of survival were slim.

But what the Canadian did not expect was that, before she had even been referred to an oncologist to discuss treatment options, she would receive information from health officials on how to end her life. 

Pamphlets on Canada‘s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) programme arrived in the post shortly after her diagnosis in September 2023. 

Kristin, 46, had spent months fighting to be seen by a doctor, but her symptoms were repeatedly dismissed. And now, she says, the healthcare system was ‘setting’ her up
