A man who allegedly stuffed packs of meat down his trousers at a petrol station shop has been charged with shoplifting.
Police said that CCTV showed Haydon Lucas, who has been dubbed the ‘Sausage Smuggler’, repeatedly visiting a BP in Newbury, Berkshire, and stealing almost £600 worth of meat.
Lucas, 30, has been charged with four counts of shoplifting, returning weekly at first and then twice within four days.
After being arrested on October 6 following an investigation led by the Newbury Neighbourhood Policing team, he has been freed on bail.
He is due to appear at Slough Magistrates’ Court on November 5.
