Donald Trump has claimed Russia and Ukraine have agreed an ‘energy ceasefire’ after Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to hold elections if Vladimir Putin backs a 60-day pause on fighting.
The US President posted on his Truth Social platform on Sunday: ‘Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine.
‘Both parties have agreed. Do not break it! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP.’
Mr Zelensky responded by saying that he had not heard anything about the agreement but that he would agree to an energy ceasefire if Russia did.
He said: ‘The ceasefire announcement was news for me.
