NHS doctors missed chances to save the life of a ‘happy, healthy’ five-month-old girl who died from meningitis, an inquest jury has found.
Esta High died at Leeds General Infirmary in November 2023, days after she was taken into the emergency department with a high temperature and vomiting which doctors had said was caused by Covid.
Her parents, Lynsey Carr and Leon High, insisted that their concerns over the seriousness of the illness were ignored.
They told Wakefield Coroner’s Court that Esta could have survived if ‘rude’ staff had tested sooner for a bacterial infection and started vital antibiotic treatment.
