Pictured: British man accused of helping Iranian intelligence plot attack on RAF Fairford base

Two British nationals accused of an alleged Iran-backed plot targeting RAF Fairford believed they were driving vans for a ‘business venture’ until they were told there was a bomb inside, a court has heard.

A group of men were allegedly instructed to drive vans loaded with petrol to the base by a handler known as ‘Ali’, before one of them phoned police after being informed a bomb was onboard.

Nouman Essghir and wheelchair-bound Mohmed Abdulkarim, both 24 and from Westminster in London, are charged over the suspected terror incident outside the Gloucestershire base on September 27.

Abdulkarim is charged with assisting a foreign intelligence service
