Peter Murrell’s £400,000 SNP spending spree was exposed after detectives found his ‘outrageous’ splurges on Montblanc pens and Le Creuset cookware on the party card.
Officers became suspicious when they uncovered large sums of party funds spent on high-end lifestyle items despite the SNP’s limited finances.
After Murrell was jailed for five years and three months today, Police Scotland has released interview footage of the former SNP chief executive sitting silently and expressionless as officers probed him over the spending.
One detective told Murrell: ‘Over £19,000 is exclusively on pens alone.
