The wildfire tearing through the historic New Forest continued to rage today after a van burst into flames, with the blaze spreading to surrounding vegetation and engulfing 250 acres.
Footage of the moment the blaze began has emerged as firefighters battled it for a third day with their bosses saying they will be there ‘for some time to come’.
The white van, filmed by several drivers, is seen completely engulfed in flames before the fire spread to bushes and trees.
Today, the fire service said it would launch a ‘larger-scale attack’ on the blaze in a bid to bring it under control.
