Harrods has swung back into profit… a year after paying £62.5million to Al Fayed’s abuse victims

Harrods has bounced back into profit a year after payments to victims of its former owner Mohamed Al-Fayed dragged it into loss.

The £62.5 million Harrods paid in compensation to more than 100 victims of the sexual predator meant Harrods lost £34.3 million in the year to January 31, 2025.

But across the ensuing 12 months, to the end of January this year, the historic London department store reported a healthy pre-tax profit of £84.9 million.

Harrods had also grappled with tough trading conditions in the year to January 2025, but it was the compensation payments that drove its accounts into the red.
